The earliest services appear to have been held about 1860. The ministers came
from Buninyong and early in 1862 there were sufficient families in the district
to warrant the building of a chapel.
The following people were authorized to collect from the congregation.
The first trustees were Messrs. Clarke, Faulkner, Cozens, Dawber, Harvey, Whalley and Savage. Mr. Swanston gave the land for the chapel and at a meeting on 11th February 1862 the committee discussed plans for the building. It was to be 18 feet by 28 feet the walls to be 12 feet high and built of brick. Twenty thousand bricks at twenty shillings per thousand were ordered from Harry Savage. Edward Shugg was contracted to build the chapel for 110 pounds if the trustees provided cartage for the bricks. The building was to have a shingle roof. The chapel was opened between 18th Nov. and 22nd Dec. 1862. In 1876 a porch was added to the building and the bell re-hung. The first Pastor of the church was Mr. Greenwood. Another well and favourably remembered pastor was Mr Herridge. Mr Bufton a store keeper and his wife were amongst the early church workers and their daughter May was church organist for many years. and was followed by Mrs Cleland. The church was closed for some 30 years and was used by the V.D.C. during the war. It was reopened in November 1948 by Rev. A. Pedrick as part of the Bannockburn Home Mission Station. The only living trustee at that time being Mr. Alderson. Messrs L. Faulkner, F. Sutton, G. Gray, S. Munro, J. Vale and D. Wallace became the new Trustees with D. Lamond and G. Stewart joining them later. It later became part of the Geelong West Circuit. Ladies of the church formed a Guild and Sunday School was held. As families grew up and left the district it was again found necessary to cease services. and the final service was held in December 1973. With the coming of the Uniting Church in 1977, the church and property was sold to the Bannockburn Shire in 1975.
